Ongoing programs like the VFC (Vaccines for Children) and the Pneumonia vaccine for the older members of the community are seen as annual programs. However, we always associate the Flu vaccine with fall and winter.

Well ahead of the anticipated rush, Sanofi Pasteur, U.S. Chief Medical Officer, announced this past week that the first batch of vaccines for the upcoming flu season were on their way to pharmacies, hospitals, and doctors’ offices, and stated that some 65 million doses of Sanofi Pasteur’s Fluzone vaccines were approved for release earlier this week by the Food and Drug Administration.

“The flu impacts people in the U.S. every year, and the single best way to help prevent getting or spreading the influenza virus is timely vaccination,” said Sanofi Scientific and Medical Affairs VP, David Greenberg. “Sanofi Pasteur is committed to helping people fight the flu by offering a broad range of flu vaccine options to meet the needs of patients across multiple age groups."

The CDC and the FDA both have strict guidelines on how these vaccines should be transported and stored – especially at the local distribution points. The DeltaTrak FlashLink Certified Vaccine Data Logger with Glycol Bottle (WHO prequalified), Model 20932, is specifically designed for monitoring and managing temperature at the local and main storage facilities for vaccines.

To maintain compliance, use a certified data logger or temperature recorder from DeltaTrak - and to ensure that you don’t get the flu this upcoming flu season - get your flu shot!
