Job Description
This position shall drive new business development, product/solution development and product life cycle management from concept through commercialization for projects/products/solutions assigned. The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be engaged in re-imagining business opportunities in the cold chain by harnessing the power of DeltaTrak’s patented software and algorithm technologies, and will use their knowledge of data science methodology, IoT technology, API data integration and, predictive modeling techniques to optimize customers operations and planning requirements. In this role the BDM will lead the development and delivery of DeltaTrak technology that will support rapid integration of various data sources and lead in the development of technology roadmaps. This is a highly visible position that interacts with all levels within DeltaTrak, external companies and customers, business partners, and suppliers. The BDM shall provide sales enablement by creating early sales opportunities, conducting sales development, creating, and executing go-to-market strategies and programs, and establishing market definition and segmentation. Special assignments as needed. Responsibilities are as follows:
- Conduct research and investigation into new market opportunities and new solution/product development including writing business models for assigned solution/products/technology;
- Develop customer implementations and use of DeltaTrak’s patented ANQC technology;
- Develop new receiver customers using our RTL solutions within the Food Marketplace;
- Responsible for defining the company software objectives for rapid API development and data integration with third-party company solutions;
- Create and develop product definitions, write ECRs (Engineering Change Requests) to specify new product requirements and solution offerings;
- Conduct research and manage competitive product/solution analysis and positioning;
- Develop and implement go-to-market programs using marketing department resources;
- Be the public voice of the company, including presenting at trade events and association meetings for the assigned products/solutions;
- Responsible for product literature content creation for assigned products including pricing strategies;
- Track all assigned projects and/or work in conjunction with company’s project manager to ensure all assigned projects are up to date weekly;
- Develop and maintain project schedules using MS Teams;
- Assist in the development of product training and education;
- Conduct joint sales calls for strategic customer prospects and opportunities;
- Participate in Trade Events and Seminars as needed;
- Responsible for providing annual feedback to management team on competitors and market dynamics
Qualifications & Skills Required
Successful candidates must have the following qualifications:
- BS or greater preferably in Marketing, Business Development or Engineering;
- Must have demonstrate a strong leadership ability;
- 7 years mix of business development, technical program management, product management and partner management experience;
- Experience in presenting to senior management internally and externally;
- Excellent verbal, written and computer skills;
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to cooperate, work and communicate with all departments of the company in a friendly and professional manner.
- Previous experience in a job position where Product Marketing was required 95% of the time;
- Previous experience in a job position where Business Development was required 95% of the time;
- Ability to handle a high work load and meet deadlines;
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to maintain the highest level of professional integrity and confidentiality;
- Requires 15 to 20% travel to meet with end user customers, channel, and sales;
- Ability to develop account plans and project pursuit strategies for strategic customer prospects and opportunities with minimal guidance from management.
